About AgeCalc

AgeCalc is a small, free age calculator built by Jimmy | ORBITFRAME. It answers one question precisely — how old, exactly? — and it does all of the maths in your browser.

What it calculates

Give it a date of birth and it returns the exact age in years, months and days, the same figure expressed as total months, weeks, days, hours and minutes, the weekday of birth, a countdown to the next birthday, and the generation label most commonly attached to the birth year. Companion tools cover the gap between two birth dates, ages on future dates, and ages counted purely in days.

Method

Every date is converted to a whole number of UTC calendar days before any arithmetic happens, so time zones and daylight-saving changes can never shift a result by an hour or a day. Exact age is found by counting full birthdays first, then full calendar months from the last birthday, then the remaining days — the borrowing order official forms use. Approximate shortcuts like “days ÷ 365.25” are not used anywhere on this site.

One rule has to be chosen rather than derived: a February 29 birthday in a non-leap year. AgeCalc observes it on March 1. That choice is stated wherever it matters, and readers whose local convention is February 28 can simply read the result one day earlier.

Generations

Generation ranges on this site follow the widely used divisions popularised by Pew Research Center for Millennials, Generation X and Boomers, extended with the commonly used 1997–2012 range for Generation Z and 2013–2024 for Generation Alpha. These are cultural labels, sources vary by a year or two at the edges, and nothing legal or medical depends on them.
